Assesment vs evaluation: what kind of teacher are you?

Assesment and evaluation are both terms that teachers have used along with the years interchangebly. Scanlan (2012) provides us with the text "Assesment, evaluation, testing and grading" a really clear explanation on what are the differences among these words.

I've made these two charts summarizing what i conclude about this topic:

  1. It was quite creative and smart and it shows a good description of both aspects, nevertheles I would like you to take into account some purposes of assesment, as for example.
-to make desicions about follow-up instruction
-ascertain the effectiveness of instruction units
    - analyze student reactions to some activities or instructional units, for this you could have a checklist.

  2. Very clear, explanatory and contrastive post. It is necessary to have a better idea of assesment and never confuse with evaluation, because sometimes people tend to mix both of them and spoil the process. Thanks for the explanation as I had not a really clear idea of the diference between the two.
